About Joel

Joel grew up in the hotbed of Canadian advertising…a small French town 10 minutes outside Winnipeg. Convinced that he could create better flyers for his Dad’s grocery store, Joel moved to Calgary to attend Alberta College of Art & Design where his ambition soon outgrew flyers. After stints at two of Calgary’s top agencies, WAX and Trigger, Joel moved to Vancouver to work at creative powerhouse Rethink. After a year, he was asked to be one of three Creatives to open their Toronto office and continue their award-winning track record. Joel was then recruited by Saatchi & Saatchi and helped elevate the agency from #43 in Canadian rankings to winning the coveted ADCC Scarlet Letter for Agency of the Year in 2014. Just to prove it was no flash in the pan, Joel helped Grey Canada complete a similar feat propelling the agency to #1 on the Bullet Report. Needless to say, Joel has won an award or two along the way, from Cannes and One Show to Communication Arts and London International. But his proudest accomplishment is raising his two children. Joel recently opened his own freelance company Babygrampa and in his spare time, he creates artwork, illustrates children’s books and carves wood. With a very sharp knife.
